Hello! I’m so excited to share these Halloween shaker cards with you today. Using one of my favorite things from Simon Says Stamp’s Stamptember release, the Friendly Ghosts stamp and die set, I made a trio of cards. I love the whimsical ghost images in this set and I thought the illustrations and the font used for the sentiments had sort of a vintage vibe, so I tried to reinforce that when designing these cards. I paired the ghost images with some of my favorite patterned paper, which has a bit of a distressed look to it. I used the patterned paper for the background of the shaker windows and a simple reverse scallop for the frame detail. And, instead of the usual white cardstock and white embossing powder, I chose ivory cardstock and cream embossing powder so things didn’t look so stark. I also included some classic sequins in my shaker material, to help add to the vintage vibe I wanted. These turned out to be my favorite Halloween cards this year and I hope you like them as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by my happy place!

STEPS
1.) Using ivory cardstock, I die cut frames using the two largest rectangles from Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangles, three times. The frames measure 5 1/4 x 4″ on the outside edge. Then, with coordinating colored cardstock (orange, green and purple), I die cut three reverse scalloped windows to fit inside the frames and glued them in place. On the backside of the frames, I used strong double-sided tape to attach pieces of acetate and then attached foam strips from Waffle flower, also around the backsides of the frames. I filled the area inside the foam strips with my shaker material and used my Misti to help align the patterned paper backgrounds, cut to the same 5 1/4 x 4″ as the frames, onto the foam strips.
2.) I stamped the ghost images a few times before getting everything lined up correctly. Each ghost has a multi-step stamping process and I found that stamping the part 2 pieces before the part 1 pieces helped me align everything better. I also stamped sentiments and heat embossed at least one for each card before die cutting them. I attached everything to the front of the cards over the acetate windows so the shaker material moves around freely.
3.) Lastly, I adhered the cards to a black A2 card panel for a thin black frame around each card before attaching everything to an A2 side-fold card base. The only embellishments are a small heart for each of the ghosts. And the shaker cards are done!
