Pretty Pink Posh Hummingbird Thanks

Sometimes a card turns out so much better than you had anticipated. I love it when that happens. And today, I’m sharing one of those cards. I used some oldies but goodies from Pretty Pink Posh for this Thank You card, including the Hummingbird Thanks Stamp Set and the Geraniums Stamp Set.

Everything I had planned for this card ended up changing while I was creating it, from the colors to the mediums and even the technique. Originally, I had planned on stamping my images in brown ink, coloring them with Copic markers, making the flowers red, and die cutting the lattice background from woodgrain cardstock. None of those things happened.

I ended up heat embossing the images in gold, coloring them with watercolor markers, and making the flowers pink and the lattice background a pretty teal color. Pretty much the opposite of what I had planned. But I really love how this card turned out, particularly those sweet hummingbirds. The wings and beaks look amazing embossed in gold. I finished my design with a scripty, matte gold Thank You, also from Pretty Pink Posh, and some white enamel dots.

STEPS

1.) Stamp the images with clear embossing and watermark ink on a mixed media or watercolor paper. Apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
2.) Use watercolor markers to color the images.
3.) Die cut the images with the coordinating dies.
4.) Die cut the the lattice background three times from teal cardstock and glue together.
5.) Glue the lattice to a teal piece of cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
6.) Die cut the sentiment three times. Once from matte gold cardstock and twice from white cardstock. Stack the white die cuts and glue together. Glue the gold die cut slightly offset creating a highlight for the letters.
7.) Attach the images with a combination of liquid adhesive and foam squares.
8.) Attach the sentiment with liquid adhesive.
9.) Add white enamel dots for embellishment.
10.) Attach the card front to an A2 top-fold card base with liquid adhesive.
