Spellbinders Grand Tropical Flamingos – May 2024 Large Die of the Month

Need a card with serious tropical paradise vibes? The Spellbinders’ May 2024 Club Kits are full of tropical-themed products perfect for creating a paradise of paper crafting projects. I chose to use The Large Die of the Month Club Kit first this month because it contains the cutest, most bashful flamingos. The kit also has a ton of tropical foliage to choose from and a couple of beautiful tropical flowers, including an oversized bloom that I have plans to create a second card with.

I die cut and assembled all the elements from the kit using a variety of colored cardstocks. I tucked the flamingos into a dimensional arch frame that I created using the Waffle Flower Nesting Domes Dies and a beautiful patterned paper that I’ve been toting around with me for years. I knew one day I would have the perfect project for it! To create the frame’s dimension, I die cut domes from multiple white cardstock panels trimmed to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and stacked the frames behind the patterned paper frame. I secured this to a panel of patterned paper and started tucking all my die cut elements into and around the arch. I used foam squares where needed and trimmed anything that overhung the frame.

Next, I attached everything to a black cardstock panel that is slightly larger than the typical A2 card size, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. TIP: If I end up mailing this, I’ll use an A7 envelope, which often works better for cards that have dimensional features anyway!

To finish my card, I attached a sentiment from the Spellbinders Nov. 2023 Large Die of the Month, called Towering Blooms, to a small notched rectangle before attaching it to my card front. And for a touch of sparkle, I used the Wink of Stella glitter brush pen on the small tropical flowers.
