When should you put a classic pink car on a Father’s Day card? The answer is, obviously, whenever you want! But especially when your dad actually has a classic pink car that looks a lot like this one. To achieve the classic vibe I was after, I turned to Honey Bee Stamps to create this cool blast from the past project.
I started by creating a tone-on-tone background by die cutting the Mod A2 Cover Plate from some chartreuse cardstock and simply layering it with another piece of chartreuse cardstock. By the way, this cover plate is retiring and is on sale right now, so get it while you can!
I trimmed this in half at an angle and paired it with a classic black and white check cardstock. To disguise the seam of the two cardstocks, I added some decorative strips of matte silver and white cardstock. I trimmed everything down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ with a nesting rectangle die so it would fit inside the largest Lovely Layouts: Party Frames that I die cut from matte silver cardstock.
Next, I stamped the classic Chevy in black ink on white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. After die cutting with the coordinating die, I used a metallic silver and a white gel pen to add some shiny details and a few highlights. I also stamped the pinstripe graphic and a sentiment from the You’re a Classic stamp set in black ink and then die cut them with their coordinating dies. I secured everything to the front of my card panel and popped up the car with foam squares.
To finish up my card design, I heat embossed the Happy Father’s Day sentiment from the To The Wise One stamp set in silver on a slanted turquoise banner and layered it with a slightly larger chartreuse banner. I popped this up with foam squares and added a few matte silver confetti pieces for embellishment.
