Sepia Tone Stenciling With Waffle Flower

Happy Monday friends! While I’m waiting for some happy mail from Waffle Flower Crafts, I played around with the Postage Collage Die and some of the coordinating stencils, including the newer Wild Flower Stencil. I used brown Distress Inks to give the images a sepia tone appearance. I love the vintage look this project has, like it’s something you might have picked up at an antique store. Let’s take a look at how it all came together.

I started with creating the stenciled images. I die cut the Postage Collage Die from Lawn Fawn’s Speckled Eggshell cardstock and then stenciled the images from both the Wild Flower Stencil and the Everyday Stencil trios. I used my Grip Mat to hold the postage collage die cut in place while applying Distress Inks in three shades of brown: Tea Dye, Gathered Twigs, and Ground Espresso. Then I lightly splattered the images with the same Distress Ink colors before cutting them apart.

Next, I die cut the sentiment from black cardstock two times and stacked them together. Then I stamped the sub-sentiment from the Oversized Hello Stamp Set on Speckled Eggshell cardstock with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I die cut this with a sentiment strip banner die.

To assemble the card, I arranged the stenciled images that I liked best on a white cardstock panel trimmed to just slightly smaller than 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I attached this to a brown cardstock panel trimmed to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I placed the Hello die cut over the images and popped up the sub-sentiment with thin foam squares. The final detail was to add a few pearls for embellishment.

I’m so happy with the way the sepia tone technique turned out and I think it would be a great technique to use for fall and Halloween projects – which is right around the corner! Supply lists can be found below. Thanks for stopping by my happy place today!
