Happy Friday, friends! I’m guest designing for Waffle Flower this month, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Christmas in July release! My first project showcases the new Postage Collage Poinsettia Stencil and the Christmas Banners Die. This stencil creates the most beautiful, layered images and allows you to ink each individual background separately, giving you the opportunity to choose bold, dark colors for dramatic impact. I paired ivory poinsettias with a dark blue background for a non-traditional color palette and added a little glitz with some gold accents.
My first step was to die cut the Postage Collage Die from white cardstock. Then I used my Grip Mat to hold the die cut while I stenciled the poinsettia images with ivory, green, and blue inks. For the flower centers and the berries, I applied gold stencil paste with a palette knife. After the stencil paste was completely set, I added details to the flowers and leaves with colored pencils.
Next, I mounted the stenciled panel on dark blue cardstock, trimmed to just slightly larger than the panel. I then mounted this on a white A2 cardstock panel that I had stenciled with the air mail stripes from the Postage Collage Coloring Stencil using the same blue and green inks.
For the decorative details, I inked the holly berry die cuts with the same ink colors I used for the stenciling. I attached these to the stenciled card front along with the Happy Holidays banner that I die cut from matte gold cardstock. My last step was to stamp a sentiment from the Merry Christmas Duo Stamp Set in blue ink and die cut it with a sentiment strip die before also attaching it to the card front.
That completes my first Christmas in July project for the newest Waffle Flower release! I can’t wait to share my other projects with you throughout the month.
