Hero Arts & Waffle Flower Birthday Mash-Up

What do you do when USPS fails to deliver your son’s 30th birthday card? You make an even better card, send it Priority, and cross your fingers. Ugh.
Anyway, I’m thrilled with how version 2 turned out, and I was even happier to know he actually received it this time. I just love the Waffle Flower Oversized Postage Combo and can’t help pairing it with, well, everything! Including the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Premium March 2024 kit, which has layered landscape stamps you can use to create beautiful scenes that just happen to fit perfectly in the postage frame. Follow along below as I share how this very special birthday card came together.

I started by stamping the scene on white cardstock with a trio of blue inks for the landscape and orange ink for the sun. I then stamped some of the other elements from the set, used the coordinating dies to die cut them, and then attached them to my scene.

I used the following ink colors for this project:
Lawn Fawn Kiddie Pool for the water
Simon Says Stamp Orange Slush for the sun
Hero Hues Deep Ocean & Periwinkle for the remaining elements

Next, I used the dies from the Oversized Postage Combo Set to die cut my scene and to die cut a plain white postage frame. I attached these together and then used some of the stamps from the set to add some fun details, like cancellation marks and postage rates. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Pretty Pink Posh’s Sentiment Strips: Birthday Stamp Set.

Lastly, I mounted the postage stamp scene with foam squares to a textured background that I made using the Cover Plate Window Die from the My Monthly Hero kit and Simon Says Stamp’s Island Blue cardstock.

And that’s it for version 2, the better version, of my son’s birthday card. Thanks so much for stopping by and following along as I shared the steps to creating this project. The products used are linked in the description above, and my everyday supplies can be found here. Happy crafting, friends!
