Nighttime Meadow Scene with Honeybee Stamps

Hi friends! I’m so excited to be sharing this card with you today. I have been thinking about this card design for quite a while, and I was finally able to get it created. I used a couple of Lovely Layers sets from Honey Bee StampsBugs and Autumn Bouquet Honey Cuts. As a last-minute decision, I added a Skinny Postage Frame from Papertrey Ink and I love how it turned out. Follow along below as I take you through the steps I took to create this nighttime meadow scene!

My first step was to ink blend the background on a white A2 cardstock panel using Distress Inks. I chose Antique Linen, Speckled Egg, and Uncharted Mariner for the sky and added Rustic Wilderness at the bottom of the panel to help ground the scene. Next, I splattered just the top of the panel with thinned white gouache paint.

My next step was to die cut all the elements for the scene from mostly colored cardstock. However, I used white cardstock for the dragonfly and the cotton puffs, and vellum for the dragonfly’s wings. Before assembling the die cuts, I added depth and shading to them with Distress Inks and small blending brushes. And for a little sparkle, I sprayed the body of the dragonfly with Fallen Acorn Mica Stain and added Wink of Stella glitter brush marker to the vellum wings. I used liquid adhesive to assemble the die cuts and then played with the layout until I was happy with the overall composition. After I decided on a layout, I used Press’n Seal to pick up the scene (thank you to Dawn!) and began attaching the layers of flowers and greenery. The first layer is glued directly to the background panel. For added dimension, the remaining layers are attached with a combination of liquid adhesive and foam squares.

The final steps were to attach the dragonfly with foam squares and add the postage frame that I had doubled up and distressed with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I picked a sentiment from my little drawer of extra and leftover sentiments and attached that with foam squares too.

That finishes up this nighttime meadow scene using some of the amazing Lovely Layers sets from Honey Bee Stamps. Thanks for stopping by!
