Hats Off To The Grad!

Hello! It’s graduation season, friends, and today I’m sharing a card that I made for my nephew, who will be a high school graduate in just a couple of weeks. So exciting! I combined Papertrey Ink‘s new The Big Congrats To The Grad stamp set and their World Map Stencil, the perfect combo for the grad about to embark on new adventures! Below you’ll find a supply list and then all the details about how I used those supplies to create this fun graduation card. And my favorite everyday supplies can be found here.

Let’s get started! First I stenciled the world map on an A2 white cardstock panel using my favorite warm gray ink, Wet Cement. It’s the perfect neutral backdrop for almost any design. After stenciling, I added a dotted die-cut frame detail using the Waffle Flower dies and then layered a black cardstock panel behind it.

Next I stamped and die cut the elements from the Hats Off To The Grad set I wanted to use, using the ink colors listed above. I stamped the metallic gold over the Spicy Mustard for a little sparkle and used Versafine for stamping the text. The colors I chose are a perfect match to my nephew’s high school colors! Then I arranged the elements on my stenciled background and glued them in place. I used foam squares to balance out the diploma, and to balance out the text at the top, I stacked a partial die cut behind it just where it wasn’t overlapping the hat.

The final touches were to add a couple of metallic pearls to the hats and a scattering of gold stars. And that completes this graduation card! Thanks so much for stopping by to read about my latest cardmaking project! Happy crafting!
