Big, Showy Tropical Hibiscus – Waffle Flower Sneak Peek Kit #7

Hello! If you’re not already a Sneak Peek Club member, the latest kit might just convince you to join! Kit #7 is a sneak Peek to the upcoming August 5th release, and if this Hibiscus Cluster Die-n-Stencil is any indicator, it’s going to be a good one. This big, showy floral cluster makes a bold statement as the focal point of any A2 card and needs little else for a stunning design. I kept things simple with a layered white background, some sophisticated black accents, and an understated scripty sentiment. Below you’ll find my supply list and more details about this tropical beauty featuring the Waffle Flower Sneak Peek Club Kit #7.

I started my design by creating the focal point, the hibiscus cluster, using the Die-n-Stencil. First, I die-cut the cluster from white cardstock and then used the coordinating stencils and the inks listed above to add color. The hibiscus centers, or pistils, are a separate diecut if you want to use them, which I did here, or you can just use the stencils to add color. I spattered just the florals with plain water and Picked Raspberry ink, using the stencil as a mask to the leaves and pistils.

Because the hibiscus die partially die-cuts the inner petals, allowing a little peek underneath, I die-cut the hibiscus cluster again and inked just the center area of the flowers with Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries, the darkest ink colors in my color palette. I stacked the diecuts together, and in person, the dark pink peeks through instead of a bright white. Just something a little extra but isn’t necessary for the design.

The layered background is a snap to make. I die-cut the oversized postage panel from white cardstock and added black spatter before attaching it to a white woodgrain texture panel. That’s it! Then I added the Hibiscus Cluster to the center of the oversized postage panel, added a stamped and die-cut sentiment using foam squares, and scattered a few black pearls across my card front for embellishment.
