Today I’m sharing another STAMPtember exclusive! This limited edition Memory Box collaboration with Simon Says Stamp is so adorable; I know it won’t last long! I used this set to create a frosty, wintery scene featuring one of the pudgy little penguins and gave him a snowy backdrop using the snowflakes from the set to do an embossed-resist technique. Check out my supply list below, and then we’ll get started!

I started by creating the background for this frosty scene. I die-cut the second-largest postage stamp edge frame from white cardstock and used an A2 mask while I stamped the snowflakes from the stamp set with clear embossing ink. Then I used white embossing powder to heat emboss the snowflakes. It’s hard to see the white snowflakes against the white cardstock right now, but that’s the magic of an emboss-resist technique! I replaced the A2 mask and then inked the panel with two shades of green ink, going over the embossed snowflakes, which resist the ink. I concentrated the darker color near the bottom of the panel and blended up into the lighter color.
Next I stamped the images with a Copic-friendly black ink on white cardstock and then colored them with alcohol ink markers before die-cutting them with the coordinating dies. Then, using a white gel pen, I added a snowflake print to the penguin’s scarf and highlights to the mug. I also used a black glaze gel pen for his eyes and a stardust glitter pen for adding a bit of sparkle to the hat. Before moving on, I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, for crisp, clear lines, and then die-cut it as well.

Before attaching the die-cut images to my background, I doubled up each diecut giving them a little more weight and subtle dimension without using foam squares. The finishing details were to add a couple of white clay snowflakes to the scene and a little extra snowfall to the background with a white gel pen.
