Hello! Today, not only am I sharing this snowy shaker card featuring Altenew products, but I’ll also be sharing a special discount code, at the end of this post, for a $10 discount on orders over $99 at Altenew. Plus, today is day one of their early Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sale! What could be better than crafty sales and discount codes at your favorite shops? And now is the perfect time to pick up some supplies for your holiday crafting, like the Globe Builder I used for this snowy shaker card. I love this set because it gives you so many options when creating your snow globe. There are trees, a snowman, two globe options, and a variety of decorative elements. You could easily make multiple cards, all different, from this one set. I chose to use the trees for my snow globe scene and added a Happy Holidays 3D embossed background panel for a little interest. Let’s take a look at how this card came together after the supply list (with affiliate links).

My first step was to die-cut the shaker window from a Sea Glass cardstock panel using the snow globe die before I embossed the panel using the Happy Holidays 3D Embossing Folder. After I embossed the panel, I lightly swiped a Pine Needles Distress Ink pad across the panel, catching only the raised text from the embossing. Then, for some distressing, I spattered the panel with Frozen Fog Mica Stain and thinned white gouache paint.
Next, I die-cut the elements for my snow globe scene. I die-cut two trees and one of the snowy hills from the Globe Builder set and then added shading to the trees with Distress Inks. I attached the diecuts for my scene to a white cardstock base panel with glue except for the shorter tree in front; I used thin foam tape for that tree. And I used the shaker window panel as a template for placement of the diecuts. Then I lightly inked around the trees with a light minty green ink (it’s hard to see in the photos) and stamped a few small snowflakes here and there.

To create the shaker, I attached a piece of acetate behind the shaker window and then added foam tape around the window to create a well and across the rest of the panel. I filled the well with glitter and then placed the base panel with the trees onto the foam tape. I used the corner of my Misti to help with the alignment.
To finish up this snow globe, I die-cut the snow globe base from kraft cardstock and heat embossed a sentiment on it with white embossing powder. I added a little shading to the base with Distress Ink before adding it to my card front. I also added a white frame to the snow globe and a pretty red bow, both included in the Globe Builder set. The finishing touch was a few silver snowflake diecuts for embellishment.
