Simon Says Stamp Bright Christmas – December Card Kit of the Month Round 2

Hello! I’m so glad you stopped by! I’m sharing another holiday card featuring the Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit of the Month. You can see my first card here. This time I used the little village woodcut-style stamp as my focal point, paired it with more of the included patterned paper, and added some fun textural details, like stenciled rooftops with a sprinkling of glitter and a hand-stitched border around the stamped scene. Take a peek at my supply list, and then we’ll get started!

Like my previous card, I started with the focal point of my design, the stamped woodcut-style village scene. First I stamped the image with Forest Moss Ink on the included ivory cardstock. Then I stamped over the edges of the image with a rose gold metallic ink. It’s hard to see in the photos, but the metallic ink adds a subtle shimmer and an almost distressed vintage look to the scene. I repeated this process again so I would have two stamped village scenes.

Next, I die-cut around one of the village scenes with a deckle-edged rectangle die and softly blended Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around the edges for an aged look. Lastly, I stitched around the rectangle panel with a sharp needle and one strand of embroidery thread.
For the other stamped village scene, I used the coordinating wafer die to die-cut the village from the surrounding wintery scene, and then, using the included mini stencil, I stenciled the rooftops with the opaque paste, which is also included. I quickly sprinkled glitter over the rooftops to give them plenty of sparkle. After the paste set, I layered this little village onto the first village scene with thin foam squares.

My next step was to layer the deckle-edged panel onto one of the plaid patterned papers that I trimmed to 4.25 x 5.50. Then I added a stamped and die-cut sentiment and a few sentiment strips and phrases from the included sticker book. The finishing touches were to add some holiday greenery, a flurry of stamped and die-cut snowflakes, and a star to adorn the Christmas tree.

Thank you so much for checking out the second holiday card I created using elements from the Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit of the Month, Bright Christmas. Happy crafting, friends!
