Cheers! Spellbinders Large Die of the Month

Here’s to a sparkling new year! This past year brought challenges and changes I hadn’t expected, but it also brought new experiences and opportunities. In fact, I have a couple of exciting announcements coming in January that I can’t wait to share!

In the meantime, I’m sharing this fun card made with the December Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders. I love the champagne and wine glass dies included in this set, and the dies for adding the liquid to your glasses are what, I think, make this month’s club really special. I used vellum for the glasses and had to get pretty creative with my adhesive because of its transparency. I combined this month’s dies with the Hypnotic Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from Spellbinders and the Mama Elephant Party Scene Cover, all in rose gold. Also in rose gold is the Celebrate Wafer Die from Simon Says Stamp, in a font that I’m kinda obsessed with right now. It reminds me of decorative brush or hand lettering. I want every sentiment in this font. Adding a few gold accents and some shimmery metallic papers makes for a sparkling, festive New Year’s card!

Here’s to a year full of opportunity, happiness, and creativity! I’m so excited for what the new year will bring. Cheers, crafty friends!

STEPS

1.) Hot foil the background on a black A2 card panel using rose gold foil and the Hypnotic background plate.

2.) Die cut the Mama Elephant Party Scene from rose gold foil cardstock. Die cut again from plain white cardstock and stack them, using liquid adhesive to secure.

3.) Die cut the Celebrate word die and the numbers (these are from the May 2019 Spellbinders large Die of the Month) from rose gold foil cardstock. Die cut the shadow of the word die from vellum and attach the rose gold “Celebrate” to the vellum with glue.

4.) Die cut the elements for the glasses from vellum. Because of the transparency, use something like Micro Dot Sheets from Simon Says Stamp, to assemble the elements for the glasses.

5.) Die cut the two elements for the liquid from metallic paper for both glasses. I used a lighter color for the bottom piece and a darker color for the top. Glue these in place at slight angle in the glasses. With a snowy background die, die cut some “bubbles” from the lighter metallic paper.

6.) Die cut the stars and stir sticks from gold cardstock. The stars are from the April 2019 Spellbinders’ card kit and the sticks are from the September 2023 Large Die of the Month. Glue stars to the sticks and insert in glasses through a small slit at the rim cut with a craft knife.

7.) Assemble the card. With liquid adhesive, attach the party scene frame to the hot foiled background. At the top of the card, attach the Celebrate word die cut with 1/16″ foam strips wherever it doesn’t come in contact with the streamers of the party scene frame. Attach the glasses with thin foam squares behind the liquid and behind the base of the glasses. There are enough layers here that the foam squares aren’t visible. The drink stirrers can be attached with more foam squares and with glue at the base of the sticks. For the champagne “bubbles”, the stars and the numbers, use liquid adhesive to attach to the card panel.

8.) Attach card panel to an A2 top-fold card base.
