Waffle Flower Wild Flower Stencil for Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the crafty moms! Today I’m sharing a card featuring the beautiful Wild Flower Stencil Set that coordinates with the original Postage Collage Die from Waffle Flower. The stencils were part of a recent spring release, and I knew right away that I wanted to create a Mother’s Day card with the gorgeous floral images.

I used both Distress Inks and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks to get the perfect color combinations for the three stencil layers. To add some interest to the images, I added colored pencil and white gel pen details, along with some stamped postage rates from the Postage Collage Stamp Set. After cutting my Postage Collage Die into individual floral stamps, I layered them on kraft cardstock with an embossed dot detail that I die cut with a Postage Stamp Edge Frame from Simon Says Stamp.

For sentiments on my projects, I love pairing a scripty font with a basic block font, and the Essential Celebrations Set from Waffle Flower has the perfect combo of the two. I chose the Mother’s Day sentiment, popped it up on my project, and finished by tying twine around the kraft cardstock panel.

More detailed instructions are listed below, along with a list of supplies I used. As always, thanks so much for stopping by today!

STEPS

1.) Create the wild flower images.
▪️ Die cut the Postage Collage Die from white cardstock.
▪️ Using the Wild Flower Stencils, stencil the images with a small blending brushes and chosen ink colors. The colors I used are listed below.
▪️ To add color to the background of some of the images, mask along the edges with low tack tape and lightly apply ink around the images.
▪️ Use colored pencil and/or a white gel pen to add details to the flowers and some of the backgrounds.
▪️ Use the Postage Collage Stamp Set to add postage rate and/or small sentiment details to the images with black ink.
2.) Create the card elements.
▪️ Die cut the largest Postage Stamp Edge Frame from dotted kraft cardstock.
▪️ Cut the stenciled Postage Collage Die into individual stamps.
▪️ Stamp the sentiment in black ink on white cardstock and die cut with the coordinating die.
3.) Assemble the card.
▪️ Arrange the individual stamps on the dotted kraft cardstock and attach with liquid adhesive and thin foam squares.
▪️ Attach the sentiment with foam squares.
▪️ Wrap twine around the card panel and secure on the reverse side with tape.
▪️ Place double-sided tape on the reverse side of the card panel, leaving valleys for the twine. This will allow for the panel to lay evenly.
▪️ Remove the release paper from the double-sided tape and attach the panel to an A2 side-fold card base.
