Holly Jolly Christmas in July with Waffle Flower Crafts

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing another project I created for the Waffle Flower Christmas in July Release. This card features some of my favorite things from the release, like the new Holly Jolly Background Die and coordinating Holly Jolly Background Stencil, and the Christmas Banners Die set with all of its greetings. I combined these with some previously released holiday products and used Distress Oxide Inks on kraft cardstock for a more traditional, rustic design.

I started my project by die cutting the Holly Jolly Background die from kraft cardstock and then used the coordinating stencil to apply Distress Oxide Inks with small shader brushes for easier blending. Then, I splattered the background panel with thinned white gouache paint.

While the paint dried, I die cut the sentiment from the Christmas Banners Die set and the holly berry sprigs from the Holiday Lights Die set from kraft cardstock. I used my Grip Mat to hold the die cuts while I inked them with Distress Oxide Inks. I die cut another banner sentiment from kraft cardstock and attached it behind the inked one, slightly offset.

Next, I used the Holiday Stripes Stencil to stencil red stripes on a kraft cardstock panel trimmed to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ to be the base of the card. Then, I used the largest and medium-sized ovals from the Folk Art Bird Die set to create a frame using kraft cardstock. I used the medium oval to die cut the center from the stenciled Holly Jolly background panel and trimmed it to 4″ x 5 1/4″ before popping it up on the Holiday Stripes base with foam tape. I placed the oval center piece directly on the lower base panel and then added the oval frame.

To finish my card design, I added the sentiment banner across the oval center and the holly berry sprigs to the ends. Then, I heat embossed a sub-sentiment from the Merry Christmas Duo Stamp set with white embossing powder on kraft and die cut it with a sentiment strip before attaching it to my design. The final detail was to add just a couple of white gel pen highlights to the berries.

And that completes my third inspiration project for the Waffle Flower Christmas in July Release. You can see my other two projects here and here. My main supply list is here, and the project-specific supplies are listed and linked below. Thanks so much for stopping by for some Christmas in July inspiration!
