Waffle Flower Postage Collage and New Poinsettia Stencil

Today I’m sharing another Waffle Flower Christmas in July project showcasing the new Poinsettia Stencil that coordinates with the Postage Collage Die. My favorite thing about this stencil is the ability to ink the background a dark and dramatic color, like black. I have another project here, where I used this stencil and inked the background a royal blue color. I chose traditional red poinsettias for this design and added the new Happy Holidays Print Die, along with pretty gold accents.

My first step was to die cut the Postage Collage Die from ivory cardstock before using Distress Oxide Inks to stencil the images. I saved the poinsettia centers for last, and instead of inking them, I applied a gold stencil paste with a palette knife. After the stencil paste dried, I used a mixture of gold Perfect Pearls and a few drops of water to splatter my design using a paint brush.

Next, I used the Postage Collage Coloring Stencil to stencil the air mail strips with Distress Oxide Inks on ivory cardstock trimmed to just shy of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I layered that panel with black cardstock trimmed to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches, and then mounted the stenciled Postage Collage panel to the center of the air stripes panel.

To finish my card design, I die cut the Happy Holidays Print Die from matte gold cardstock, doubling it up with plain white cardstock before attaching it to the shadow piece that I die cut from ivory cardstock. Then, I stamped a couple of sub-sentiments from the Merry Christmas Duo Stamp Set with black ink on ivory cardstock and die cut them with thin sentiment strips. Finally, I attached everything to my card front with liquid adhesive.

That finishes up my Christmas in July projects with Waffle Flower. Time to shift gears and focus on my favorite crafty time, fall and Halloween!
