Hi friends! Today I’m sharing my last inspiration project featuring products from Waffle Flower’s Magical Christmas release! In my last Waffle Flower post, I showcased two of the new die-n-stencil sets, and for this card I used another new die-n-stencil set, the Cardinal Duo. I chose to use just one of the mirrored cardinals for this design and paired him with the Woodgrain Die-n-Stencil, giving him a warm and cozy backdrop. Below you’ll find a supply list and then a description of how I used those supplies to create this inspiration project for Waffle Flower’s Magical Christmas release!

My first step was to create the woodgrain texture background panel. Using the die-n-stencil, I die cut the texture plate from white cardstock and then used the layering stencils to add color. The ink colors I used are listed above. After coloring, I die cut the panel with the Oversized Postage die and set it aside.
Next, I die cut the other elements for my card design from white cardstock. I used the coordinating coloring stencils and the inks listed above to color the cardinal and the tree branch and used white stencil paste for the snow on the branch. Then I inked the remaining diecuts and arranged everything on the woodgrain stenciled background panel. I secured most things with thin foam squares and used glue for anything tucked behind the branch.
With the scene assembled on my background, I spattered everything with thin white gouache paint and then added small accumulations of snow using white stencil paste and a palette knife in some of the natural nooks and crannies formed by the diecuts in the scene.
Lastly, I added a black die cut sentiment and a subsentiment before layering the woodgrain background panel onto a slightly larger white cardstock panel and then, finally, a white card base.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope I’ve inspired you to check out the Magical Christmas release from Waffle Flower with my inspiration projects the last few weeks. Happy holiday crafting!
