Hello, friends! I’m so happy you stopped by! Today I’m sharing a fall card featuring products from the Waffle Flower September release, Fall Favorites. I paired the Leafy Backdrop and the Owl Duo Die-n-stencil, two of my favorite things in this collection, with autumn’s warmest colors to create this cozy scene. SSS Cream Embossing Powder
My first step was to create the background for my scene. Starting with a piece of Pebble cardstock trimmed to 4.25 x 5.5 inches, I inked around the edges to darken them with Pumice Stone Distress ink. Next, I die-cut the Leafy Backdrop twice from Golden Wheat cardstock and then blended in warm, muted Distress Ink colors to add color and contrast for some dimension. I set these pieces aside before assembling them while I worked on the other elements of my card.
To create the other elements, I started with die-cutting the branches, acorns, and leaves from white cardstock and ink-blended them using the same colors as the Leafy Backdrops. For the owl, I started with Alabaster cardstock and used the coordinating stencil to add color. Finally, I assembled the die-cuts and moved on to creating my scene.
Before attaching anything to my background panel, I first arranged the die-cuts, positioning them where I wanted them, so I could position the Hoo word, stamp it with clear embossing ink, and then heat-emboss it with cream embossing powder. Then I attached the Leafy Backdrops to the panel with foam tape, giving them more dimension. Next, I tucked the branches into the backdrop, letting the front of each branch pop out from the background, and then added additional leaves and the acorns. I nestled the owl into the scene, propping him up on a branch.
Next, I stamped the sentiment with clear embossing ink on Golden Wheat cardstock and heat-embossed it with cream embossing powder. I fussy-cut the sentiment and then blended in the same colors I used for the rest of my design so it would blend in with the background. The finishing touch was to add a few white enamel dots before attaching my card front to a top-fold card base.
