Hello! As I anxiously await the July My Monthly Super Hero kit from Hero Arts, I decided to throw another pool party! I revisited some of my favorite things from June’s kit and created another shaker card featuring the Reflection Layering Stencil and the Pool Party die set. My first card is here. To round out this splashy summer design, I incorporated not only a few Fun Floats and a sentiment from the Hello Summer Stamp & Cut set but also fun string lights. Because what swimming pool is complete without string lights? Let’s dive in while I wait for July’s kit!

Like the first pool party card I created, I started by creating the shaker element. First, I stenciled the water pattern onto a white cardstock panel to be the shaker base. Then, I die-cut the pool shape from another white cardstock panel and added a piece of acetate over the opening on the reverse side to be the shaker window. Then I created a well to hold the shaker bits by adding foam tape also to the reverse side of the same panel and around the window opening before filling it with shiny sequins. Finally, I secured the stenciled base panel to the foam tape, and the shaker element was completed.
Next, I got to work die-cutting the other elements for my design from colored cardstock and a few patterned paper scraps. I die-cut and assembled the pool accessories and the sunbathing beauty as well as the string lights. Then I arranged the elements on my shaker panel and secured them in place using glue, foam squares, and double-sided tape. I like to use double-sided tape on acetate when I can because it holds better. I used foam squares for the umbrellas and strung the lights between them using tiny pieces of foam squares under some of the bulbs to hold them up. My last steps were to add the white heat-embossed sentiment, die-cut with the coordinating die, and attach everything to a top-fold card base.
